This evocative Nativity scene, created in the early 20th century with finely hand-painted terracotta figures, is characterized by expressiveness and exquisite detail. The figures feature glass eyes, lending realism and depth to their gazes, and are adorned with hand-crafted clothing made from the finest fabrics of the period (silk, cotton, velvet, and natural fibers), sculpted with folds and movements that lend a natural, solemn feel to the scene.
The sculptural group depicts the Holy Family, with the Madonna and Saint Joseph next to the Baby Jesus, surrounded by an angel and celestial cherubs, all set in a hut reconstructed with cork and natural wood, enriched with small details such as flowers and animals (goat).
A work of great charm and spirituality, it testifies to the mastery of Neapolitan artisan workshops of the early twentieth century, custodians of a centuries-old tradition that unites sacred art and popular culture.
